On June 15, 2021, as part of the „FAU-BMW Joint Sustainability Dialogue“, Prof. Dr. Thomas M. Fischer discussed the topic of „Integrated Reporting“ with Oliver Zipse (Chairman of the Board of Management, BMW AG) and Jon Townend (Head of Group Accounting & Reporting & Taxes, BMW Group) at the BMW Headquarters in Munich.

For the FY 2020, the BMW Group has disclosed for the first time an Integrated Report, which combines financial and non-financial KPIs. Thus, the „FAU-BMW Joint Sustainability Dialogue“ between Prof. Fischer, Mr. Zipse and Mr. Townend focused on opportunities and challenges for jointly presenting sustainability-related information with BMW‘s financial report.

Through the exchange between academic research and corporate practice, various topics regarding the scope of integrated reporting and its consequences for the future of financial reporting were addressed.

We kindly thank Mr. Zipse and Mr. Townend for their participation and look forward to interesting discussions on the development of „Integrated Reporting“ in the future.
